Growth hormone is a peptide hormone used to stimulate growth, cell reproduction and regeneration, and is used as anabolic agent for performance enhancements, including weight loss.

Testosterone levels not significantly below normal; test of 1-4ng/dL

The test should be done by a qualified health professional (such as a urologist or endocrinologist).
The results of the test are used to confirm or rule out T-E in order to determine whether your child is taking growth hormone (see below).

There are several reasons why a child may be using growth hormone for athletic events, such as:
The child needs the growth hormone for their own growth
The child has a medical condition to alleviate and needs the growth hormone in order to prevent or treat this condition.
The child’s parents need the growth hormone for their child’s growth.
The child is using the hormone, for example, for children in foster care or in the foster or adoption process.
Is Growth Hormone A Steroid?
Because growth hormone has been used to promote the growth of a number of sporting events for as long as we have known, it is often referred to as a steroid (see here for a good overview of steroids). In fact, the ingredients on the label of the supplement are misleading. In the case of L-phenylalanine, the label says “supplement is safe” but “should only be used by people who are trying to improve muscle gains.” Even though this substance is a muscle-building compound, it is not listed as a hormone booster or as a fat-loss aid by the label of most dietary supplements available on the market, including many of the multivitamins and other supplements advertised on TV. These supplements also claim to strengthen the immune system, boost energy, help with weight loss and relieve stress.
But research over the last five years has shown that the substance has little to do with fat loss, and little to do with muscle or strength gains. The best evidence to support it as a fat-loss aid came from a 2004 study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, in which scientists randomized 18 men to either take two 100-mg capsules of L-phenylalanine a day or three 100-mg capsules of an inert placebo. The men who took the L-phenylalanine claimed they lost up to 8 percent of their body weight, while the men on the placebo gained only 1.4 percent.
